| The expansion
to Dwire Hall, home of the Business School at the University
of Colorado at Colorado Springs, builds on and strengthens
one of the best parts of the campus.
The building opens onto a green that predates the formation
of the University. Three buildings combine to form a common
edge to the green with the site treatment at each building
adjusting in response to changing conditions along a common
edge.
The the stairway at the building entrance to Dwire opens
to and strengthens the intersection of two major campus
walkways. Further to the north, a garden terrace provides
space for events associated with the Business School and
offers views past the main walk and on to Pikes Peak.
The main walk is reconfigured in plan and profile to meet
ADA guidelines. The overall scope and scale of site renovations
allows for the installation of low water use native grasses
in low traffic areas.
