| The Denver Housing
Authority wanted to make a comfortable and inviting place
for children to play. Parks & Gardens visited
the site and found a weedy lot where water-saving measures
had resulted in dead grass and trees. Rather than replacing
the grass, Parks & Gardens developed a court
paved with a firm yet playable surface. This removed half
an acre from irrigation, leaving water resources to support
more precious trees surrounding the court, while also reducing
maintenance requirements.

The
play court surrounded by trees provides a space for year-round
play as well as spectators.
