As communities evolve, the uses and expectations for public parks change.
The City Park Alliance and The City and County of Denver’s Parks and Recreation Department hired Parks & Gardens to design an interior loop trail to meet the needs of current users who want to walk, jog, or run through the park, but find the historic roads unfriendly.
The trail is five kilometers long and traces 5280’ topographic contour on both the sides of the park. The trail alignment takes park users past some of the most appealing and well known features of the park as well as out of the way points of interest while winding through century-old trees.
The first phase of construction was a collaborative effort between the contractor and Volunteer Outdoor Colorado (VOC), who paved half the length of the path. The second phase of construction completed the trail and includes distance markers and interpretive signage.
